One basic principle Jesus taught us is, “Love your enemies.” That principle is sure to make the short list. It is something we are supposed to do if we are going to follow Christ. And perhaps most of us feel as though we keep that commandment. But sometimes I can’t help but wonder whether we have reduced Jesus' words to mean: ‘tolerate your enemies,’ or ‘ignore your enemies,’ even ‘don't do anything bad to your enemies.’ And yet Jesus’ words still stand: “…Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.” Luke 6: 27-28
